Artist - Cindy Dean:
Cindy Dean is a mother of 6 children (boori's).She is a 45 year old proud Aboriginal women/Artist from Gippsland. She was born in Bairnsdale and raised as a Gunaikurni. In the last two years, she has been reunited with her family in Fitzroy Crossing, Western Australia. Her father was part of stolen generation. Her tribes are Walmajarri/wangkatjungka and her skin name is Nangala. Cindy now reside in the East Gippsland town of Sale.
Cindy’s own words: “I was established as a Koori artist in 2007 when I joined a women's painting class called ‘mixup’ and I have never turned back. I'm known for my art work around the Gippsland area and became part of a book called NOT JUST DOTS....through the East Gippsland Aboriginal Arts Corporation.. I was commissioned to sell my artwork and was doing extremely well. Now I paint from home. This is my yarn and I am pleased to share it with you.
